Patient, Family, and Clinician Experiences with Voluntarily Stopping Eating And Drinking (VSED)

A symposium that I edited is coming out shortly from Johns Hopkins University Press:  "Patient, Family, and Clinician Experiences with Voluntarily Stopping Eating And Drinking (VSED)."

The symposium includes 15 personal narratives from those involved with VSED, including from: Carol Douglas and Bill Lukin, Julie Dziedzic, Katherine Hammond, Elizabeth and Bill  Jose, Wendy Kohlhase, Adam Marks, Marilyn Mitchell, Phyllis Shacter, Susan  Schaffer with Elliot Schaffer, and Janet Maelek, Judith Schwarz, Stanley Terman, and Gregory Webster.

It also includes three expert commentaries:

  • VSED: Death With Dignity or Without? (Mark Corbett)

  • VSED Narratives: Exploring Complexity (Robert Horowitz, Bernard Sussman, Timothy Quill)

  • Merits, Demands, and Challenges of VSED (Paul T. Menzel)

If this is of interest, then you should definitely also check out this conference that I helped organize in October at Seattle University.  Two days all focused on VSED.
